Whenever you add a domain as hosted in some account, you normally set a pair of Name Servers to point it to that particular service provider. On their end, 3 records are set up automatically the moment the domain address is added - one A record and two MX records. The first one is a numeric address, or IP address, that “tells” the domain name where its website is, while the other two are alphanumeric and they show the server that deals with the emails for that particular domain name. The site and the e-mail hosting are often thought to be one thing, when they're actually two different services. Having different records for them will enable you to have them with different providers if you would like. As an example, some new company can have exceptional uptime for your site, but you may not want to switch your emails from your current host and by employing an A record to point the domain name to the former and MX records to have the e-mails with the latter, you can get the best of both providers. These records are checked whenever you want to open a website or send an email - in either case, the provider whose name servers are used for the Internet domain will be contacted to retrieve the A and MX records and if you have set records different from their own, the correct web/mail server will then be contacted and you are going to see the needed website or your e-mail is going to be delivered.

Custom MX and A Records in Website Hosting

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which comes with each and every website hosting which we offer you, will allow you to see, modify and create A and MX records for any domain or subdomain inside your account. Using the DNS Records section, you're going to be able to view a list of all hosts inside the account from a to z with their related records, so any update is not going to take you more than a couple of clicks. Creating new records is just as easy if, as an example, you would like to use the e-mail services of another provider and they ask you to create more MX records than the default 2. You may also set the priority for every MX record by setting different latency. In other words, when your emails are delivered, the sending server is going to contact the record with the smallest latency first and if the connection times out, it will contact the next one. Through our advanced tool, you're going to be able to handle the records of your domain addresses and subdomains effortlessly even though you may have no prior experience with such matters.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The Hepsia hosting CP, included with our Linux semi-dedicated hosting, allows you to view the A and MX records for any of the domain addresses or subdomains in your account and if required, to change any of them or set up new ones. Controlling these records is incredibly easy because all domains/subdomains will be listed alphabetically, so modifying a record is as simple as entering it in a box and saving the change. Setting up a new one takes a few more clicks and if you experience any difficulties, you can check out our instructional videos on how to create A and MX records. Our system is user-friendly enough to be used by people with no previous experience, yet advanced enough to give you 100 % control of all records and to permit you to have different A records even for domain.com and www.domain.com. If you're pointing your e-mails to a different company and they ask you to set up more than two different MX records, you can select the priority of each one.
