DomainKeys Identified Mail, or DKIM, is a system for checking the genuineness of an email using an electronic signature. When DKIM is activated for a given domain, a public encryption key is published to the global Domain Name System and a private one is stored on the email server. When a new email message is sent, a signature is issued using the private key and when the message is received, that signature is authenticated by the incoming server using the public key. Thus, the receiver can easily recognize if the message is authentic or if the sender’s email address has been spoofed. A discrepancy will appear if the content of the email message has been edited on its way as well, so DKIM can also be used to make sure that the sent and the received emails are identical and that nothing has been attached or deleted. This authentication system will enhance your email security, since you can confirm the legitimacy of the important email messages that you get and your colleagues can do the same with the emails that you send them. Depending on the particular email provider’s policies, a message that fails the examination may be erased or may emerge in the recipient’s mailbox with a warning alert.

DomainKeys Identified Mail in Website Hosting

The DomainKeys Identified Mail option is pre-activated for all domain names that are hosted in a website hosting account on our cloud hosting platform, so you won’t need to do anything on your end to turn it on. The sole condition is that the given domain should be hosted in an account on our platform using our MX and NS records, so that the emails will go through our email servers. The private encryption key will be created on the server and the TXT resource record, which contains the public key, will be published to the DNS database automatically, so you won’t have to do anything manually on your end in order to activate this option. The DomainKeys Identified Mail email validation system will enable you to send credible e-mail messages, so if you are sending a newsletter or offers to customers, for example, your emails will always reach their target audience, whereas unauthorized 3rd parties won’t be able to spoof your email addresses.

DomainKeys Identified Mail in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The DomainKeys Identified Mail option is included by default with any domain name that’s added to a semi-dedicated server account with us. The domain must also use our name servers, so that its DNS records are managed by our platform. The latter makes it possible for a special TXT record to be created, which is actually the public cryptographic key that confirms if a given message is legitimate or not. This record is created as soon as a domain name is registered in a semi-dedicated account via the Hepsia Control Panel and in the meantime, a private key is created on our email servers. If you use our email and web hosting services, your messages will always reach their target audience and you won’t have to worry about unsolicited persons forging your addresses for spamming or scamming purposes, which is essential in case you use emails to communicate with your business associates.
